Brian ButterworthBE (Hons)Director of Training From a career culminating in the position of General Manager of Manufacturing for Pilkington Australia, Brian changed career path into the personnel and industrial relations field, becoming General Manager Human Resources for Pilkington ACI. He was recruited to the public sector as an expert in change management and his career included being Deputy Director General of Community Services Victoria and then Director of Rural Health for Victoria. In both positions he was responsible for large scale social change projects. For most of his consulting career Brian was General Manager, Principal Consultant and a Partner of Clark Hummerston Consulting Group (and later Australia's largest HR consulting group, Empower). Brian's consulting expertise includes change management, organisation development, facilitation of various processes such as strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and conflict resolution, leadership development, executive mentoring and all aspects of people management. In recent years Brian has been involved in the change management aspects of major ERP projects e.g. for Pioneer International (now Rinker) and for PaperlinX – both projects involved implementation of an SAP platform. Clients of Brian's have included: Adshel, Alcoa, APN, Audit Victoria, BHP, Brambles, Brisbane City Council, Cement Australia, Coles Myer, Computer Associates, Incitec Pivot, Melbourne Zoo, North Limited, Orica, PaperlinX, Pilkington, Pioneer International, Robe River Iron Ore, the Jewish Museum and Western Bulldogs. His current major clients are Royal Melbourne Hospital where he is working with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on an organization wide culture change and Fosters where he is running a series of leadership programs. At Home: Brian lives in a 5 star green development. His native garden never requires watering and the entire development is self sufficient for water. Dr David CollinsBE (Hons) PhD FIE Aust CIH COH MAIOHDirector and Technical Advisor David is the Managing Director and Principal Environmental Engineer of Synergetics Environmental Engineering with over 25 years national and international environmental engineering and occupational hygiene experience in government, university, research and at plant and corporate levels in manufacturing, construction and heavy industry. David has served as senior environmental policy advisor to government and industry CEOs, and conducted doctorate level research and development. He has specialist expertise in air quality modelling, assessment and management, air quality policy development, ambient air measurement systems, ventilation systems, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling, environmental risk assessment, fugitive emissions characterization and noise and vibration assessment and control and ISO9000 and 14000 series compatible management system development. He also has substantial knowledge and experience in occupational and environmental exposure assessment and is a Board Certified Industrial Hygienist in both the United States and Australia. He is also accredited as a Technical Assessor for NATA. He has over 60 technical papers published. David served as Environment Australia’s representative and founding member of the National Environment Protection Measure (NEPM) Air Quality Working Group and many other policy development and national advisory roles. At Home: David is almost self sufficient for water (25 000l tank) and electricity (1kW solar system). Davis does not own a car. He rides his bike to and from the station and takes the train to and from work each day. He rides his bike or car pools everywhere else! Lauren BairdBE (Hons) BScDirector of Technology Lauren has extensive experience delivering innovative web based solutions to technical problems both in the Environmental sector as well as the education sector. She has previously been employed as a web developer for the University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education, and as a freelance developer for a number of high profile websites. She volunteers her skills to a number of organisations including Engineers without Borders, the Australian Conservation Foundation, Sustainability Street and developed a high profile climate change website that won an Environmental prize from Visy. She was selected to be part of Brightest Young Minds in 2008 and subsequently was asked to do a regular sustainability lecture for Engineering students at the University of Melbourne. She has experience with both teaching and on the ground conservation work in Nepal and Australia and is passionate about community development through education, environmental issues and technology. Lauren has recently implemented a Green IT solution for The Green Spaces serviced office space franchise and has been an advocate for improve e-waste strategy in Australia. At Home: Lauren has a 5000l water tank, and a 1kW solar system on order, a grey water reuse system, a healthy vegie patch and two friendly chooks. She rides her bike to work every day. Tony LayhBEc Grad Dip MarketingDirector of Sales and Marketing Tony has 20 years of experience in senior Sales, Marketing and Commercial strategy development for companies such as Kraft, National Dairies, Mattel Toys and Origin Energy. He gets a real buzz from using his experience to identify genuinely new solutions to customer’s issues (especially if they don’t think they have issues). Academically, in an attempt to keep up with the boffins around him, he has a Bachelor of Economics and a Grad Dip in Marketing, both from Monash University. He believes being involved with The Green Training Company is one of the best things he can do, to make a difference to the world his kids will live in. At Home: Tony completed a sustainable refurbishment on his home, complete with a grid connected solar pv system and an enormous range of buckets for water collection. He bakes all his own bread, and is an active gardener in his local community garden. He often rides his bike to work. |
